ABOUT Tiff Tong Art and its creator:

Thank you for visiting my website! This website is about the student-led experience of art therapy studies. I intend for this website to be a record of all the academic aspects of being an Art Therapy student as well as a way for me to express my own personal experiences with mental health as an everyday person.

I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Class of 2019. At UMass, my journey started as a student in the BDIC (Bachelor's Degree with Individual Concentration) department. Although Art Therapy isn't offered as an official major at the University, I was able to create my own major in Pre-Art Therapy through the department. I constructed my own curriculum with classes that were prerequisites for Art Therapy schools that have American Art Therapy Association approved master's programs and was offered admission into Drexel University in March 2019 shortly after my graduation in February.

Currently, I am enrolled at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA studying Art Therapy and Counseling at a Master's level. Along with the vigorous classes I am enrolled in, I also am getting clinical experience using art therapy through clinical practicum and internships. Although it is a tough journey, it is something I thoroughly enjoy and the supports and friendships that I have built so far only encourage me more to pursue this field.

On my own personal time that I set aside for self-care, I enjoy going to the studio that I currently have membership in: Black Hound Clay Studio in West Philadelphia. Art aside, I also enjoy yoga as a way of grounding and regular exercise to keep my mind and body healthy. When I am not doing any of these, I enjoy the company of cats, whether it is my own cat, Duncan, who is back in MA being taken care of by my younger sister, or my friends' cats, who are a bit closer to me here in Philadelphia!
